car off, close doors, start car w/EATC off, hold both offand floor buttons simultaneously, release both buttons and press automatic button w/in 2 secs. self test will begin, takes about 2 mins. If all lights come on, unit is probably good. If a code appears, need to check if unit is bad. If unit is good, it's probably a vacuum problem. Not an expert, just have a similar problem. I'm looking for a vacuum diagram to trouble shoot leak in system for 2006 Grand Marquis.
You can't, the serpentine belt (or fan belt) on a grand marquis is equiped with a self tensioner, if your belt is making noise it either needs to be replaced or one of the pulleys on the cars may be loose and would need to be replaced.
Should be self-adjusting unless tensioner is bad get a tensionier bar from the auto store. Place it the hole or around the nut moves the tensioner, either up or down.

It seems like the 1998 grand marquis key-less entry model was the only model made where u would actually have to take to a dealership to have it program there as it requires a computer module to program it.. unlike the rest of all models where u would be able to program you're self.. with the key and keyless entry pin pad those procedures just wold not work on the 98 model.. have tried it out... and it not work..
