Character Sketch
George is one of the friendliest characters in the novel Of Mice and Men. He is a migrant ranch worker hoping to own a home. George is a small man but hardworking. He has friends to care for. George's emotions change throughout the problems he faces.
George is physically small. He has a dark face. His mind is in taking care of Lennie and working. George is a bright man. He wants and anticipates a future for him and Lennie.
Lennie is his best friend. George has taken responsibility of Lennie since a friend of him, Aunt Clara passed away. It has been really brave of George to look after someone that gives him so much and that is not related to him. They may not have the same blood, but they are like cousins. George gets along with most of the people of the ranch; the one who gives him trouble is Lennie.
George's emotions change throughout the problems he faces. At times, when Lennie would ask for impossibilities, he would cuss at Lennie. If he sees that Lennie was upset, he would tell him the story of the plans for their future. George did everything he could to help out Lennie but because of his mental disability Lennie would forget. George came to a point when he though it was best for Lennie if he died. That was when he decided to shoot him.
In general, George is a very patient man. Many people liked him. He is smart and most of the time made the best decisions. But as all humans, George came to a limit and had a desperate moment. For the most part, George is a great man.
