If you are talking about D-Day there were a total of five landing sights. There was Omaha which the u.s covered (and which was the worst landing due to the fact that they had over 2000 causualties due to fierce German resistance), Utah also covered by the u.s, there was gold covered by the british, juno covered by the canadians and then finally sword also covered by the british.
The British forces were assigned to two beaches, Sword and Gold. The British LCT's at both at Sword and Gold held off landing their tanks till they could come off almost right onto beach. This gave the soldiers immediate armour support. (the launching of American tanks way too far out at Omaha was one the main reasons Americans were decimated on Omaha beach) The British forces held both Sword and Gold by 0900, just 2-3 hours after landing. from here they advanced inland some 6-7 miles by nightfall.

At Sword Beach 6th June 1944 but the evening before Airborne Forces secured Pegasus Bridge over the nearby Orne canal in order to prevent German reinforcements from counter attacking the Allied Forces. The glider troops took the bridge and held it until relieved by Lord Lovats' commandos on 6th June.
Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword beaches.
Omaha and Utah were the city and state honored by having the landing beaches named after them while the other landing beaches were named Gold, Juno, and Sword
If the sword has two red eyes on the lion's head it is worth about $500.
Omaha and Utah beaches were assulted by American forces. Juno, Sword and Gold beaches were assaulted by British and Canadian forces...................
