All Honda 4 cylinders from 2003 and up have a timing chain except the 2004 & 2005 Honda Civic which has a belt. 2006 and up Civic has a chain.
Four-Cylinder has chains, V6 has belts.
chain
8th generation Civics (2006-up) have timing chains. Timing chains are more durable than timing belts. Unless there is a problem timing chains never get replaced; timing belts need replacing every 60,000 miles .
It has a timing chain which should last the life of the vehicle - if the engine is properly taken care of. The earlier models did have timing belts but Honda changed over to chains starting with the 2002 model year.
2003 and up Honda 4 cylinders have a timing chain, and the V6 has a timing belt that must be replaced at 110,000 miles.
4 cylinder 2003-2007 Honda Accords have timing chains. 6 cylinder 2003-2007 Honda Accords have timing belts.
You do not change timing chains!!!!!You only replace timing belts which the 2003 cr-v has.Added: Honda CR-V engines are equipped with timing CHAINS starting with the 2002 model year.
A good rule of thumb is from 75,000 to 100,000 milesAnother View: Check the previous answer with a dealer. I believe the mileage recommended above is relative to the models with timing BELTS, and not timing CHAINS. I believe that CR-V's from '02 onward are equipped with chains.
none, they were all timing belt until 06, first year for chain
4M40 is timing chains
The 2015 Honda Accord V6 models are timing belts. The 4-cylinder version uses timing chain.
The Accord changed from a belt to chain in 2003. The Civic changed from belt to chain in 2006. Prior to that they all had belts.
