Do you change a timing chain?

You do not need to change a timing chain as a general maintenance item, unlike a timing belt. In most cases by the time the engine is due for a timing chain change, it could use a rebuild anyway. B. Some cars have timing belts. Timing belts and chains need to be replaced at the first sign of damage. If the chains are not replaced, the engine will come to a grinding halt and suffer severe damage.
