Sound like a subplot ( pun not intended) on McHale"s Navy. there were cases of submarine officers and men being billeted in a luxury hotel in Hawaii during the war, the hotel being the (Royal Hawaiian) this being military necessity as this was after the Pearl harbor crisis. The gobs didn"t build the hotel, it was up and running probably from the days of Queen Lil ( Liliuokalani, who authored (Aloha Oe) surely the only state song penned by a regnant monarch!
