All jews came from the same place but some Jews are very strict about their lives but others are not so demanding. If this is referring to the Ashkenazim and Sephardim/Mizrahim, the reason for the division was that one developed in Christian Lands and the other developed in Muslim lands. The difficulty in crossing between Christian and Muslim lands and the cultural differences in societies there influenced the flavor of Judaism practiced in each region.
