it was built 150 years ago, 1843 and was built by pioneers. the reason was to build a trading post so fort Victoria is a trading post for the Hudson bay.
buffalo hide is buffalo fur, or skin. you can look at pictures of buffalo hide at any search engine, just by clicking images (preferably Google, Ask, or Bing) buffalo hide was used for clothing by the Native Americans. they also built teepees out of buffalo hide.
The karankaws built portable homes so they could move it while hunting hordes of buffalo.
This was the result of the Korean War, to separate the two koreas. The result was suggested by the USA to keep peace between the nations.
They weren't. Teepees were made from the hide of buffalo, but they were never built on the buffalo themselves. A teepee wouldn't be able to even stay in one place for long (or even in one piece) of they were built on the plains buffalo!

The Erie Canal was built between 1817 and 1825 under the direction of New York State Governor De Witt Clinton. It runs East-West across NY State from near Albany (on the Hudson River) 363 mile west to Lake Erie , near Buffalo. It opened up the entire Great Lakes system to water borne freight from the East Coast ports on the Atlantic.
