He opposed slavery, while Texans (along with many other southern states) felt slavery was necessary to sustain their economy, which depended heavily on farming and ranching. When Lincoln won the election, he received ZERO votes from Texas. His name was not even on the ballot.

Not really, if it was a problem for anyone it would be the south in the end. The south at the end of the war would have virtually no factories for ammunitions, while the union had no problem getting ammunition because they had so many factories.
The Texans , fighting to the end , became a rallying cry encouraging the others to fight on against the Mexican government/army .
