The 500th Episode
HOMR
No. The first episode is the Christmas episode and didn't have the regular opening credit sequence. The first episode to feature the now familiar opening shots ends with the Simpsons rushing to the couch, sitting down, and nothing else.
ive been looking but i havent found it
You no longer can submit your own couch gags. All you can do now (as of 02|2013) is vote on the three finalists.
It's their trademark gag, and they want to keep it fresh.
The Simpsons is written by following this basic format as a template, The Simpsons opening credits come on followed by a couch gag, if an episode is too short they will run the longest version of the opening credits and the longest couch gag and if an episode runs for too long they show the shortest opening credits, the first act on the Simpsons usually contains scenes with no particular storyline leading up to the opening of a story, this story then further progresses in act 2 and usually reaches a climax then in act 3 the story gets resolved, for example, if homer and marge break up then act 3 would focus on getting them back together. An episode of the Simpsons like a lot of other shows usually contain filler material in the form of an itchy and scratchy cartoon!Note:i(natalie)only fixed some spelling errors and put in some capitals i did NOT write all this!

Well not abused, but bloody insulted. when i first watched it i memorised the couch gag and the chalkboard and wrote it down (each simbilizes each episode) and whenever i saw it i imidietly changed the channel. but I'm Australian, and if a, lets say, German or Chinese or English watch a episode like that, and are sensitive, they may do something like that. but hey, it was the simpsons goal. Also, i hate how they tease Christians, although i like the episode where Bartgets an F, and it shows that he is good, so a miricle happens, and Homer beggins to pray. anyway, i don't blame you for being insulted.
From Season 20 Episode 10 to Present, prior to Maggie being scanned the register reads $243.26.After she's scanned, it doubles to $486.52therefore, logically Maggie costs $243.26.In a one shot gag, in the The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular it reads NRA4EVA.
The opening hasn't change very much in the show's run so there are many of the same elements that have existed since 1989. Bart skateboarding, the chalkboard gag, the couch gag, Lisa playing in the school band, Homer at work, Marge & Maggie in the car among others.
