The French and Indian War was part of a larger global conflict called the Seven Years' War which included England, France, Spain, Germany, and Austria and their colonies around the world, and on the seas. It was, in essence, actually, the first worldwide war. In it the French, and their native American allies attempted to drive out the British (which included American colonists) and their Native American allies. The decisive moment came when Wolfe's forces climbed the bluffs opposite Quebec and surprised the French on the Plains of Abraham, securing Canada for Britain.
