The active cell is the currently selected cell. For example, if I click on cell A1, cell A1 can be said to be the active cell. For purposes of VBA programming, if more than one cell is selected, "Selection" should be used, not "ActiveCell", in referring to the selected range.
The active cell is the cell that the cursor is on or the cell where whatever you type appears.
There is always one active cell. Its address will be displayed in the Name box, or the name of a named cell or named range. If a named range is selected, there is still only one active cell, but the name of the range will be shown in preference to the active cell's address.
The Active Cell will show a black box around it or if it is part of a range it will be the only white cell. You'll also see the address of the Active Cell in the Name Box, beside the Formula Bar, so that you will know which cell it is.
The active cell is where things will go when you start to type something into a spreadsheet.
Thermocouple is one example. Photo voltaic cell
Cell membrane pump
Active
Active transport
In a Excel table (or spreadsheet), the intersection of a column and row is called a "cell." Where a column and row intersect you get a cell. The cell is reference by the column letter and the row number. So, for example, where column C meets row 15, is cell C15. You classify it by its column letter followed by the row number. Such as D3, B2, C5, etc.
In the name box, beside the formula bar.
To select a cell (If you are looking for the answer for an IT class.) Click on the cell using the mouse, or using the arrow keys, move the cursor to the cell you want. You could also press the F5 key and use the Goto command to go to the cell that you want to be active. You could also type its address into the Name Box. The Active Cell will show a black box around it or if it is part of a range it will be the only white cell. You'll also see the address of the Active Cell in the Name Box, beside the Formula Bar, so that you will know which cell it is.
