The 1926 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar was issued at the Sesquicentennial Exhibition in South Philadelphia. Of one million coins authorized, only about 141,000 were sold (at $1 each) and any unsold coins were remelted. The obverse had overlapping profiles of George Washington and Calvin Coolidge. Coolidge is the only President to appear on an official US coin while living. The reverse featured the Liberty Bell, which 22 years later would appear on Benjamin Franklin half dollars.

It would be another 88 years before Coolidge appeared on his Presidential $1 coin in 2014, none of which were minted for general circulation.
