Age, nutrition, hygiene, and smoking all can have an effect on healing time. If you are having difficulty with healing after your wisdom teeth extractions, first call your surgeon or dentist to see what they want you to do. If you are having slow healing and are concerned about food collecting or odor from the mouth, one solution is to rinse with a "water-pik" like device on a LOW setting to keep food collection at a minimum. If you have swelling, bleeding, pain in the area longer than you think is normal, see an oral surgeon or dentist ASAP.

If you have a hole in the mouth with a white line around where a tooth use to be mean that you have a tooth coming back in. I would go to the doctor and have them check it out.

Of course there is going to be a substantial hole, that's the socket where the tooth was. As for the white you are seeing, that would be part of the jaw bone and was supporting the tooth that is now extracted. Your dentist can remove some of it, if you want but its not necessary!
