It should heal up in a few days or so. This question may be difficult to answer without knowing the circumstances surrounding your extraction. If the tooth was erupted through the gums before extraction, it may take a few weeks to fill-in with bone and gum tissue. If the tooth was impacted, it may take less time to heal if the gum tissue was sutured back over the opening after the extraction. However, if your suture came out early of if you developed a dry socket it may also take a few weeks to fill-in. You must know that there are very many other factors that influence your healing rate. Age, nutrition, hygiene, and smoking all can have an effect on healing time. If you are having difficulty with healing after your wisdom teeth extractions, first call your surgeon or dentist to see what they want you to do. If you are having slow healing and are concerned about food collecting or odor from the mouth, one solution is to rinse with a "water-pik" like device on a LOW setting to keep food collection at a minimum. If you have swelling, bleeding, pain in the area longer than you think is normal, see an oral surgeon or dentist ASAP.
If you have a hole in the mouth with a white line around where a tooth use to be mean that you have a tooth coming back in. I would go to the doctor and have them check it out.
it is probably infected
Normally a wisdom tooth is a third molar.
No. I am 61 and just had a wisdom tooth removed. No problem.
cavity is the hole in tooth
a wisdom tooth beginning to protrude
A wisdom tooth is one of the three molars. A molar is defined as a tooth with four cusps or points, and the wisdom tooth is simply the last molar to erupt and farthest back in the jaw.
Of course there is going to be a substantial hole, that's the socket where the tooth was. As for the white you are seeing, that would be part of the jaw bone and was supporting the tooth that is now extracted. Your dentist can remove some of it, if you want but its not necessary!
the wisdom tooth is the last tooth to erupt which erupts any time around 18 to 24 years of age.
Wisdom tooth extraction requires an oral surgeon when the wisdom tooth is compacted, or when the area around the tooth is infected.
Is wisdom teeth lucky
It certainly leaves a big hole in the gum. It will close over in a relatively short time.
