I think it would be obvious to stop the car as soon as possible.I can't think of anything else you could do but honk your horn to warn people to get out of your way until your car stops.

Fortunately, what you fear is very unlikely- almost impossible if you maintain your car at all well.

Why does my Taurus make a noise when i first move the steering wheel then stop and is not low on flud?

This is probably a worn serpentine belt - the belt that runs all the extraneous engine devices such as the steering pump, water pump and air conditioner compressor. Check the underside of the belt for cracks...if there are more than a few cracks per inch, you should replace the belt before it fails completely. In this case the belt will often squeel when you first start the vehicle. The problem could also be caused by a worn belt tensioner, a worn steering pump, or problems in the steering rack.

Can you drive a car without power steering working?

Yes, but it should be looked at as soon as possible. This is because it is a safety hazard. Vehicles that originally had power steering installed and then it fails does not drive like a vehicle that never had power steering. There is s direct relationship between the speed (or movement in reality) of the vehicle and the ease of turning it without power steering assist (or when your power steering is disabled). If you are at a stop for instance, turning the wheel is much more difficult then a moving vehicle and turning it and this should be taken into account when driving a vehicle without power steering.
