Practicing Buddhist householders (laypeople) are allowed to do almost anything anybody else does except break the Five Precepts.
An easier question would be what are they not allowed to do.
The Buddha did not forbid Buddhists or force them not to do certain things, but he taught or warned them not to do these things by showing the reasonable cause and result.
The Buddha usually warned all the laypeople (as well as monks) to refrain from two extremes of practice, namely sensual indulgence (indulging in 5 sensual pleasures, which are like miracles) and self-mortification (i.e., practice by making oneself painful; which is unprofitable).
Besides, the Buddha laid down 5 precepts for laypeople to keep during their lifetime. The Buddha taught the laypeople not to break these precepts, which means he warned again and again the people not to kill others' lives, steal others' possessions, engage in sexual misconduct (practising wrongly with the sensual pleasures), tell lies (even for a joke), and use intoxicants (which can cause one to be forgetful of all the responsibilities he or she is supposed to have, etc.)
On the other hand, the Buddha pointed out the 10 evils (dealing with deed, word, or thought) to us to avoid doing them. Among the 10 evils, the first 3 evils deal with deed, the second 4 with word, and the last 3 with thought.
The Buddha wisely taught us to refrain from all the above mentioned evils and wrong practices because they can bring us down to the hell, which certainly exists for every (evil-doing) creature in the world, no matter which religion he or she follows.
Primarily, practicing Buddhists do not participate in anything that involves breaking one of the Five Noble Precepts.
That is, a practicing Buddhist does not:
Buddhism doesn't have any "forbidden to" component. As a consequence Buddhists are not forbidden to eat meat, drink, lie, etc. They are however alerted to the fact that doing such things may increase their time in the cycle of death and rebirth (slow their search for enlightenment). These suggestions are tied together in the Eightfold path. It, in turn, is the route to end desire and thus end suffering.

There is no strict rule in Buddhism that prohibits watching TV. However, Buddhists are encouraged to be mindful of their actions and choices, including the content they consume. Watching TV in moderation and with awareness of its impact on one's mind is generally acceptable in the Buddhist teachings.
