What activities can you do with God?

If God is everywhere, then all activities are done with God.

It may be that there is a qualitative difference that has to do with intent. For example, you might wash the dishes in a state of irritation thinking about how you are the only one in the house who cleans, or you might wash the dishes thinking so strongly about what you will be doing when you finish that you are barely aware of what you are doing. In these cases, an omnipresent God is with you, but you might not know you are with God.

On the other hand, you might take the experience of dish washing as a way to meditate or pray. Perhaps you notice the sound of the water running, the feel of the sponge, the smell of the soap. Your awareness might fall on the way you are standing, the movement of your arms and hands, the sensation of your breath. You might feel gratitude as a sensation of lightness or pressure in the center of your body. Gently, almost casually, you might notice that there is a slight difference in the way you are looking out your own eyes - that you are looking more deeply and openly and perhaps wordlessly.

Washing dishes, walking the dog, standing in line at the post office, making love, helping someone with homework are all ways to be with God.
