Is there a story out there anywhere about Obama not attending the Marine Corp Ball?
Actually, it's quite the opposite. In late 2011, a Marine lance corporal asked Michelle Obama if she would accompany him to the Marine Corps ball. The two met after the First Lady had raised a large amount of money and toys for the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots Christmas drive. Mrs. Obama said she was flattered by the request, and said she hoped her schedule (and his, since the Marine was still on active duty) would permit the two of them to attend.
