Both hybrid cars and electric cars are an improvement over gasoline powered cars. Hybrids have a gas powered engine and an electric motor. This allows for greater mileage and reduced, but not completely negated, emissions. Electric cars are powered solely by electricity. They produce no tailpipe emissions whatsoever, but they cannot go very long distances without needing to be recharged. Electric cars cannot be topped up at gas stations and take a few hours to fully recharge.
