Two-Bit gave Ponyboy the advice to "stay gold" which means to stay true to himself and not let the hardships of life change him. He wanted Ponyboy to hold onto his innocence and optimism despite the challenges he faced.

Ponyboy describes Two-Bit as a 'joker', he is eighteen, one of the oldest. Ponyboy says he talks all the time and has a smart comment for everything, he also says he is a warm-hearted guy.
When Ponyboy asks the gang why they fight, everyone answers diffrently. Two-Bit does it to fit in. To feel like he fits in with everyone else. As Ponyboy says: "Two-Bit does it for conformity."
