The Missouri Compromise was the first attempt to ease the looming crisis over slavery. It effectively prevented the spread of slavery into new states but did nothing to eliminate slavery in current slave states.
People may agree to slavery due to coercion, manipulation, threat of violence, lack of education or awareness of their rights, or economic vulnerability. In many cases, people are forced into slavery against their will, and their agreement is not truly voluntary.
The bill that unsuccessfully attempted to ban slavery in Mexico was The Wilmot Proviso.

Missouri Compromise
Slavery could have been resolved through a combination of legal measures, social reforms, and economic incentives. This could have included enacting laws to abolish slavery, providing education and job opportunities for former slaves, and implementing programs to promote equality and integration within society. Additionally, creating international agreements to combat human trafficking and forced labor could have also contributed to the resolution of slavery.
