Sharecropping
they hoped to get slaves themselves someday
Plantation slaves in the South were generally agricultural workers, and few owners had more than two dozen slaves. On a typical plantation, some slaves would be involved in domestic chores. This often gave them better quarters and better treatment, but exposed them to close scrutiny and often abuse. Overseers would enforce work and discipline by cruel and violent means. City slaves, either domestics or tradesmen, participated in the economies of the urban areas, and represented up to a fifth of the population in some large Antebellum cities. They were generally better treated and housed, and many were given training as artisans or tradesmen. Free blacks, while nominally citizens of their respective localities, were commonly treated with disrespect and scorn under the Black Codes of the slave South. Some free blacks also owned slaves themselves, and were in any case too few to impact the treatment of fellow blacks under the system of human bondage. Anyone, black or white, who helped slaves avoid recapture or punishment faced severe criminal penalties or death. Freed blacks, who included many mixed-race children of plantation owners, were as a group better educated than any slaves.
In India's Caste System there were four main castes into which everyone was categorized. At the very top were the Brahmins -- the priests, scholars, and philosophers. The second highest caste was the Kshatriyas. These were the warriors, rulers, and those concerned with the defense and administration of the village or state.Third came the Vaishyas, who were traders, merchants, and people involved in agricultural production. The lowest caste was the Shudras -- the labourers and servants for the other castes. However, Dalits are so low down that they don't even fit the lowest category in the Caste System. They are looked upon as outcasts or rejects. They are also known as 'Untouchables' as well.
Race divided Latin American society because Spanish colonists divided people based on race. In other words, they came up with a caste system based on classification of race and race mixture. Some of the races were 'mulatto' and 'mestizo' . Mestizos were people that were part Spanish and part Native American. They worked as mine and plantation supervisors. They had important jobs, however, they were very poorly paid and barely had political powers. But the black people had it worse, many blacks were enslaved. They just had very unfair social rights. While the blacks were enslaved the Native Americans lived in abject poverty. Latin American society was very unfair when it came to peoples rights due to their race.
They require a B and good SAT scores. Because of our money problems in the state our university system is no long accepting freshmen for next year. I think the deadline to apply is Nov. 1st. Fees have also jumped up another 30% and are expected to go up again.

The sharecropping system allowed Southern whites to regain control over black labor by effectively recreating a system of economic and social dependency. Under this system, black workers were often trapped in cycles of debt, as they had to borrow supplies from white landowners and pay them back with a share of their crops. This arrangement ensured that blacks remained economically tied to the landowners, thus allowing whites to maintain power and control over labor.
