Planes during WW1 were used as surveillance and if they wanted to drop bombs the pilot had to physically pick up a bomb and drop it. In WW2 they were used for air to air combat and could actually mechanically drop bombs.

There were a lot of animals used in world war 2 , but the main ones were dogs:especially great Danes, and pigeons too. Great Danes were used to drop bombs. They had bombs attached to their necks, and then they would drop the bombs. So did pigeons. sad news:HITLER POISONED HIS OWN GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG!!
