the frontal plane divides the body into anterior and posterior. or front and back.
The body is divided into left and right sides and the arms and legs themselves are on one or the other of those two sides. If you run your hand down your inner thigh, that is where the tibia is. You can see that left and right can't describe where it is.The line (midline) that divides the body then, is a reference point for saying where the bones in the arms and legs are to each other. We use lateral (to the side) or medial (toward the midline). In each leg, the tibia is medial to the fibula.
You have three such planes. First is sagittal plane. Sagitta means arrow. So this vertical plane enters your body like and arrow. It divides your body in two equal parts. Then you have a coronal plane at right angle to this plane. It divides your body into anterior and posterior parts. Then you have a transverse plane to make your body into two parts. That is upper and lower parts, when you stand erect.
midsagittal
That would be called a transverse section.
The midsagittal plane divides the right and left sides of the brain into two equal sections. A plane divides the body into two equal sides.
medial line
Anatomical (adj): of or relating to the structure of the body. ergo: A body's right side.
the frontal plane divides the body into anterior and posterior. or front and back.
The sagittal plane divides the body into right and left halves.
... the Anatomical position
The midsagittal plane divides the body into identical left and right arts.
From a vertical point of view, the plane that divides the body into left and right portions is the lateral plane or sagittal plane. Dividing the body into planes makes studying anatomy less confusing as body parts can be more easily identified.
sagittal
standing up so the body is erect
Midsaggital refers to an imaginary plane running down the length of the patient's body that divides it in half with one arm and one leg on each side.Mid-sagittal divides the body into two equal left and right sides.
In anatomical position, when the arms are down at the sides of the body and the palms of the hands face forward, the ulna is located at the side of the forearm closest to the body (the medial side).
