Depends on what you doing and if it is a company, Data Protection Act is the most obvious piece of legislation but there are also laws and guidelines on how much you can 'spy' on people and you also have to be able to tell who has been accessing 'dodgy' sites.
If your IT involves accountancy software, you may also have to consider how long you keep information, or if it involves document management there is legal precedence covering the medium and length of time you keep scanned documents. In companies, you have to follow the policy, guidelines and privacy acts: in most cases if you store names, addresses it is regulated.
Downloading images is only legal with owners consent.
