Can a cat run down a tree?
Not really. A cat's claws are, of course, pointed backwards, so if the cat is head downwards, the claws give him very little control over his speed or direction; when he tries to set them into the tree bark, his own downward speed, aided by gravity, will prevent them from setting properly.
