The Bible mentions a lot of animals many by species (e.g. badger, bear, bee, camel, deer, donkey, dog, eagle, goat, hawk, horse, lamb, lion, ox, sheep, snake, etc.) and many other just by group (birds, fish, lizards, insects, etc.). Note that in many cases an animal is described by its nature or appearance but the name is not explicitly mentioned so a raw count of names is only a partial list of occurrences for any particular animal in the Bible.

Quails, for example, are only explicitly mentioned four times in the Bible: Ex 16:13, Nu 11:31, Nu 11:32, and Ps 105:40.
