The Bald Eagle, and other raptors such as the Peregrine Falcon, and Osprey populations were devastated by DDT. The long term exposure nearly wiped them out. Many other birds were affected as well, Robins in one instance were killed outright on a campus when the trees were sprayed to protect them from a disease. But the raptors suffered the worst exposure, the DDT stayed in the food chain creating a domino effect, so they ingested it in greater quantities. For more details, please see the sites listed below.
Fish are quite badly effected in freshwater streams and lakes from run off water from farmland, which carries the DDT.
Threatened means that the animal is vulnerable to extinction and the population of the animal is declining. (ex: Certain species of whale population are being threatened.) Endangered means that the animal will soon be extinct if nothing is done about it. Some endangered animals are being bred in captivity until their numbers increase enough to be released back in the wild. (ex: Bald Eagles are an endangered species of bird. Pandas are an endangered species of bear.) Extinct means that the animal has completely died out and there aren't any left of this species. (ex: Dinosaurs are an extinct species of reptile. Dodo is an extinct bird.) Here's a visual: Threatened-------------> Endangered---------------> Extinct
An endangered animal, whether it is a whale or a horse means that there are not that many of the species left. This means that they are close to dying out completely and becoming extinct
It means that you are almost extinct.
What this means is that the animal is at risk of becoming endangered or extinct.
If an animal is endangered, it is in danger of becoming extinct.
They are listed as a species of least concern, not an endangered animal.
search endangered species eeerm.. ask a animal expert :)
How can we prevent endangered animal
The animal doesn't necessarily have to be "missing" however the numbers will be scarce and its habitat affected by either natural or human activity for the species to be considered endangered. For the species to be considered extinct, there would have to be no more evidence to prove the animal's existance.
Endangered Species are ones that have a very small population and that population is at a greater risk of becoming extinct. Many species that become extinct never make to the endangered species list. Extinct Species are ones that are either known (documented) to be extinct or are so few in population that a recovery is considered highly unlikely even under excellent conditions.
An animal species is classified as endangered when its kind becomes harder to find in the wild.
Polar bears are the first animal species endangered due to global warming. They help to control the population of other species They also provide food for other species known as scavengers. Scavengers feed on the parts of a dead animal left behind by the polar bear.
