The Fynbos cannot support many animals but large herbivores found there include the bushbuck and the white rhinoceros. Carnivores include Meerkats, formerly suricates, and lions. Smaller animals include the cape hyrax and the striped mouse. Flighted birds include the sugar bird, and Flightless Birds include the ostrich.

Plants of the Fynbos include the Shepherd's tree, and climbing mice and lizards can often be seen in the tiny branches of this African shrub.
