The Bahamas
The archipelago that lies between Florida and Haiti is the Bahamas. An archipelago is a group of islands or island chain.

I think it is because Haiti lies on a fault line between two plates-the north american and caribbean.
The Philippine archipelago lies between 4oN and 21oN latitude and between 116oE and 127oE longitude.
The Gulf of Mexico lies between the Florida Peninsula and Mexico.

The southernmost point in Florida is still 41/2 degrees farther norththan the northernmost point of Haiti.Part of the big island of Hawaii shares latitudes with parts of Haiti.
