the main theme of the satanic verses is the conflict between Islam and Christianity
rushdie seems to predicting that Islam will be victorious.
I disagree. I feel that the main theme is good verses evil and in unfolding that theme Rushdie uses the origins of Islam as an example of the evil ie. the manipulations of a power hungry and evil man, possibly a sick man, calling himself a prophet and claiming that he is speaking directly with the archangel Gibreel to validate his (evil) actions. His followers all feel good and holy but there is evil at the foundations.
