Human Resources (Understanding Business, chapter 10)
Credit Crunch in 2008: How Do Business Owners Get Loans? This year is starting off in a very rough way for many small business owners. Mid-size and large companies are all dropping proposed projects. The credit squeeze is on! Companies can't get the financing that they were relying on, deals aren't getting done, and the ones that really suffer are the small business owners that rely on the economics of the larger corporations. Citi Bank just reported a $10 billion dollar loss. Other banks are in similar situations. Deals are just not going to be done the same way they were. (By the way, a $10 billion dollar loss is the equivalent to the ENTIRE economy of Iceland, or Jamaica. A $10 billion dollar loss is the equivalent to both the Republic of Congo and the West Bank being wiped out simultaneously. So what are the small business owners doing to get out of this miserable downward spiral? How do you expand a business? Even hotter is the question on everyone's mind: how do you start a project or a venture? More and more, eyes and ears are turning to business credit. Not only the small business owners desperate for loans, but the financing companies themselves are turning to business credit. Dell Financial, for example, is the largest lender of custom computers to small business owners and they have started a major push in 2008 towards business credit based loans. Dell.com/bizcredit has published education material to help small business owners understand the importance of business credit and how to obtain credit lines under the business name. Other major lending institutions are following Dell's footsteps and are joining alternative financing lenders in business credit based loans. If you are a business owner without a business credit profile, start now! This is the future to all lending, short term and long term. Begin your search online for a business credit and business credit building service.

The cons: Takes time to do In some places if you don't recycle it is illegal The Pros: You can get money for what you recycle (aluminum just about everywhere, and places that have CRV tax you get it back, sometimes up to $.10 a bottle, etc) You reduce the amount of resources needed to make the same item compared to making it without recycling It saves natural resources as it takes less energy to make something with recycled material rather something new It saves space in landfills. The items that we recycle are not biodegradable.

There are definitely two (maybe three!) camps about the pros and cons of putting a child into daycare. Both pros and cons are not necessarily factual statements about all daycares, but are often mentioned anyway whether there are facts or not. Some cons that are often heard include:Babies are too young to benefit from socializing aspects of daycare.Children are "warehoused", left in cribs and playpens, with little interaction.Babies and young children need to be raised by parents (moms specifically), not by daycare Staffs.Babies cannot learn to "share"; this skill does not develop until after age 2 yrs.Daycares breed illnesses. The length of a "day" is too long for children left in daycare.Parents cannot control what behaviors are ignored or reinforced if the parent is not there to parent.Imposed schedules do not work for all babies or children. Some pros that are often heard include:Daycares provide safe places for children of working parents.Babies and children learn better how to socialize and to share.Babies and children benefit by schedules used in daycares.Daycare Staffs provide more attention to babies and children than what they get if at home.Exposure to illnesses develops a stronger immune system.Daycares give access to a wider range of toys and experiences than a baby or child gets at home. There are many more pros and cons cited.Note that my lists are from the baby-child perspective. Additional pros and cons focus on the parents' needs, most often the mother.Parents cite the need to work, to earn an income, and to feel fulfilled through employment. Although a child may be in daycare for 10 hours or more, many parents believe they have no choice. Others believe daycare benefits their child, despite any negatives. Each parent must evaluate his/her own circumstances and the daycare they'd like to choose. A list of pros and cons must be individualized based on the best interests of the child weighed against the needs of parents.
I think 100 in both bots and cons, but Cons have 90 members and bots 10!
