Representative Governments are Governments that represent a Parliamentary majority in their country. Most European countries have such a Parliamentary system, so for instance Great Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, Norway and Sweden have representative Governments. Also, Canada, Australia and New Zealand
The USA has a so-called Presidential system, with a Govenment only answerable to the President and its members appointed by him - regardless of any majority in Congress . In the last 8 years, the USA had a Democratic government but a Republican majority in the Houses of Congress. It's one of the reasons that "Washington" did not get many things done: the Republican majority fought and vetoed almost any proposal coming from the Democratic President and his Government.
The United States has a representative democracy.
