After he died, people in the region continued to give to the poor anonymously, and such gifts were still often attributed to St. Nicholas as was with Santa Claus. He is also The historical Saint Nicholas and remembered and revered among Catholic and Orothodox Christians. He is also honoured by various Anglican and Luthern churches. Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of sailors, merchants, archers, students and children who, like Santa Claus, loved him for his kind, benevolent and giving Nature.
