The odometer can show up to 999,999 miles
very very rare, but there was an optional GT instrument cluster which only had a 5 digit odometer. The standard clusters always had 6.
The odometer stays on for a while so that service personnel have time to record the mileage when, say, getting your oil changed. It uses very little power.
The "BUS" is the system Chrysler uses for it's computers to communicate on this truck. The error in the odometer means that the cluster is not receiving any messages. The "BUS" is the system Chrysler uses for it's computers to communicate on this truck.
