If both are widowed, then churches will (or at least should) allow remarriage. However, if one or both parties are divorced there may be a problem. Some churches will not remarry a divorced person, period. Others will. But for most it is at the discretion of the minister/priest after a suitable period of instruction/ repentance and guidance.

It's generally the Catholics that frown upon divorce (not as bad as it use to be) but otherwise Christians can get divorced if they so choose. However, unless being verbally, physically abused or constant cheating by one of the spouses a couple should try to resolve their marital problems together and strengthen their marriage. It appears in this day and age that some people prefer to leave the marriage rather than to work on it. Anything worth having is worth fighting for! I am a Christian and I divorced my ex husband because he was verbally/physically abusive and he cheated. I pondered the question if it was a Christian thing to do .. get a divorce, but I don't believe God would want anyone to take abuse of any sort from their partner and would not be punished in any way for leaving their spouse.

True christians follow The Bible- couples to be counseled not to separate1 cor 7;10-16. Adultery only scriptural grounds for divorce.Matt 19;9. Christians should only marry christians ( only in the lord) icor 7;39. De 7;3,4. Ne13;26.

AnswerIt can be argued that 'true' Christians (whatever that term means) follow Christ, wosrhip him as God incarnate, and abide by his teaching of love and forgiveness - and do not follow simply a book at th detriment of that love. This means that, whilst Christian marriage may well be an ideal, Christians should also recognise that sometimes things go wrong. Christ preached love, compassion and forgiveness, and so anyone divorced should be treated accordingly with that same love, forgiveness and compassion. For the 'true' Christian divorce is stressful enough without any pseudochristian condemnation of its occurrence, but instead an acceptance that it does happen, and to treat the victims on both sides with Christian love.

THE QUESTION WAS- WHAT DO CHRISTIANS BELIEVE ABOUT DIVORCE. IF THEY ARE FOLLOWING THE BIBLES PRINCIPLES THEY WILL ONLY MARRY IN THE LORD. IF THEY SHOW THE LOVE AND COMPASSION AND FORGIVENESS TO EACH OTHER THAT YOU MENTIONED AND ALWAYS PUT THE OTHER PERSON FIRST BEFORE THEMSELVES THERE IS NO NEED FOR DIVORCE. JEHOVAH SAY'S AT MAL2;16 THAT HE HATES A DIVORCING. ALSO THE TERM "TRUE CHRISTIAN" IS ONE WHO APPLIES ALL OF JEHOVAH'S WORD IN THERE LIFE, NOT JUST WHEN IT IS CONVENIENT TO DO SO. JOHN 4;24 SAYS JEHOVAH IS LOOKING FOR THOSE WHO WILL WORSHIP HIM WITH "TRUTH AND SPIRIT" BECAUSE HIS WORD IS "TRUTH" JOHN4;24 AND BECAUSE IT IS GODS TRUTH THAT WILL SET MANKIND FREE.JOHN8;32

Answer A

Absolutely not. The only way a man or woman could be remarried is if the spouse dies. It is not permitted for a man or woman to kill his or her spouse either, that's murder, of course. But it's not like some Christians don't get divorced. It is a sin and can be forgiven, but marriage is special. Don't waste it on someone you aren't meant for.

Answer B (Hint on Answer A)

As a hint on Answer A above, What one can do if he can't divorce and in the meantime can't continue with his wife. Also what he can do if his wife is permanently and deadly ill in bed?. Divorce is possible in some churches and some Christian denominations. In addition, civil laws allow divorce and allow remarriage.

ANSWER: I would say that Christians should totally avoid divorce. As Christians, we should have love, forgiveness, and kindness. In Matthew 19:4-6 states: "'Haven't you read the Scriptures?' Jesus replied. 'They record that from the beginning "God made them male and female."' And he said, 'This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.' Since they are no longer two but one, let no one separate them, for God had joined them together." And in verses 8 states: "Jesus replied, 'Moses permitted divorce as a concession to your hard-hearted wickedness, but it was not what God had originally intended.'" 'What God hath put together, let no man put asunder.'

A: in some cases yes because they believe if the better of two evils , for those of you who dont know what that means it is the following :) - if it is the better thing to do it is allowed i.e if two parents are constantly arguing in front of there children and disturbing them and making them upset they would allow a divorce because it is helping the children and not just for there own needs

No, they don't have to unless God has planned a man/wife for them already but if you don't have the desire to marry then God already knows and has no one for you.
