They should be punished and learn a lesson !Because being Christian is emulating the life of Jesus Christ, we have no basis to know what he thinks or knows about raising children, or how he would have been as a leader. A leader of men and women faces issues such as rewarding reprimanding. As far as The Bible goes, Jesus never truly led a diverse and large enough group of people to face such issues. He never had a child to face the issues some parents have to debate whether to punish or not.

So, what we have to go by is his mother and father's attitude towards punishment and reprimand.

No where in the Bible did Joseph spank, his son or beat his wife. Even when Jesus separated hismelf from his parents and was found preaching in the temple. Which by the way could have gotten a child and his parents killed in those days. His father did not spank him. Instead he explained the consequences of the child's actions and left it at that.

The parenting style of Joseph and Mary was one of support, guidance and understanding. Never did they impose their point of views on their children. Never do we read of the the types of things the so called Christians today do in the name of "Spare the rod and spoil the child"

No where in the bible are kids whipped spanked and beaten to a pulp and all that "rubbish parenting" we see in Christian homes today.

Support your kids, love your kids, treat them like little people who do not have all the parts of the equation and help them fill in the blanks for themselves.

In the Bible and the law of Moses, it said that an eye for a eye and tooth for a tooth was required (Exodus 21:23-25). Capital punishment also was ordained by God for heinous crimes, as seen in Exodus 21:12: "He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death," and for further crimes against God and man, such as kidnapping, dishonoring parents, sexual misconduct that leads to a pregnant woman's stillbirth, in subsequent verses. Certainly many other laws applied to crimes, including adultery, stealing, dishonest merchandising, etc. Some would say that we need to obey the 6th Commandment in Genesis 20:13, "Thou shalt not kill," thinking that it means no capital punishment is allowed. Yet, justice against murder is instituted, as we have seen, in the Chapter 21 by God, v.12. Capital punishment is not the same as murder, as Jesus, in repeating the Commandments, indicated that verse 12 means, "Thou shalt do no murder..." in Matthew 19:18.

It is interesting to note that Capital punishment is still upheld in the New Testament for proper teaching to Christians. We are instructed to obey the "higher powers" of civil authority in Romans 13:4, for "if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil." He has the executioner's sword to meet out justice. Even the Christian, who does wrong, may have to face civil justice.

However, and not to be maligned and abused, whilst a person could have been executed, according to the Law given to Moses, God is ready to give mercy to sinners through Christ. When the hypocritical Pharisees ans scribes brought an adulterous woman to Christ in John 8, they asked him: "Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?" verses 4&5. We are told: "This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst." These men evidently had sinned, worthy of punishment, besides the cowardly, hypocritical issue of not bringing the punishable guilty man "caught" in the act of adultery, so they all exited the scene. When Jesus rose up, seeing the woman by herself, He asked: "Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?" v.10. When she said, " She said, No man, Lord," Jesus replied "unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." v. 11. The major principle is that man can be forgiven his many sins through Christ, but the life of sin is to cease, and we are to strive as Christians to do right. Even if we have to go to jail for wrong doing or crimes, we can be forgiven by God, and start on a new path of right living. Many times, but not always, the justice system has recognized that the Christian has a new attitude, and thus the punishment is minimized.

Part of being a good Christian is obedience. Christians are able to think for themselves and I'm sure some are for it and some are against it. As far as the bible is concerned it states you should obey the laws of the land. In addition it doesn't condone capital punishment in regards to a murderer.

The Bible states to "Give to Cesar what belongs to Cesar . . . " Obey the law of the land. Nowhere in the Bible does it say it does not condone the death penalty. If Cesar, the ruler of the land says you are to be put to death for breaking a law, then that is the law of the land.

"Turn the other cheek . . ." Means to not avenge. But the death penalty is not revenge. It is punishment for breaking the law.

So in other words, if the death penalty is "Cesar's law", then the Bible says, so be it.

The Old Testament says "An eye for an eye" and the New Testament says to obey the law of the land.

The Bible says the wages of Sin is death.

The Bible says all but a few in Sodom and Gomorrah were condemned to die for disobeying God's law.

He KILLED all the first born of Egypt for the Pharaohs disobedience.

The Bible says God says Vengeance is His and he kills all those that go against Him.

The bottom line is that the Bible Condones the death penalty.

A:Christians hold diverse opinions and there is no single Christian attitude on crime and punishment. A surprisingly high proportion of Christians hold stern, unforgiving views on crime, accepting little or no mitigation and even supporting capital punishment. Others consider crime a sin that must be punished in order to protect society, but place less emphasis on base revenge.

Well, according to the bible we are required to: forgive and forget as God has forgiven us. Put others before yourself and not judge.

Idk if that helped at all.
