I was in Oahu, so these are just my favorite places in Oahu.
I really enjoyed the Polynesian Cultural Center. (they have a website, you can Google it.) There's a lot of information to learn at the PCC, and it's fun.
Germaine's Luau is a TON of fun. I highly recommend it if you are going to Oahu.
Pearl Harbor is also a popular site to see.
The beaches. Who doesn't want to spend a day at the beach?

Historians are divided on the question with some opting for Melanesians and others for Polynesians. Best answer might be "other Pacific Islanders". I read on many sites while researching for my report on Hawaii that Polynesians from Marquesas first inhabited Hawaii.
