While Mark deals less with Jesus' attitude to the Law than some other Gospels because it was addressed to a Roman audience, Jesus showed His respect for the Law by sending the healed leper to perform his legal requirements under the law (Mark 1:44). In Chapters 2 and 3, Jesus shows He had a more non-legalistic attitude to the Sabbath observance than the religious leaders of the day when He indicates the Sabbath is intended to be for the benefit of people rather than merely an empty ritual.
