Forensic Artistry

I didn't know much about forensic artistry until I read 'Have you seen this Face'?

It is a very interesting book about forensic artistry and has many fun facts in it. It made me ask questions such as;

· How much money does a forensic artist make in a year?

· How much education is required to be a forensic artist?

· How much should you need to know about art to become a forensic artist?

· Do I need to be very good with socializing?

Anyways in case you don't know what forensic artistry is, it is a law enforcement artistic technique used in the identification, of a wanted or missing person. Forensic art has many different ways of art. Here are the four main ones, composite art, reconstruction, age progression and demonstrative evidence.

A forensic artist is someone who interviews a witness and or victim of a crime scene, and asks many questions of description to figure out who the criminal or victim was. When the forensic artist is interviewing he/she might ask questions such as;

· How long did you see this person for?

· What were the lighting conditions?

· How far away was the person?

· How long ago did you see the person?

· Where there any objects in the way of seeing this person?

To become a forensic artist it is recommended that you have some kind of formal art training. If you wanted to become a good forensic artist you should be good on computers and technology, also have good people skills, because you will do many interviews will people that don't like to take or people that can't stop talking .

Composite art

This is the one type of forensic art that you are probably the most are familiar with. These are the drawings or computer images that you see in the newspaper with headlines.

Traditionally, a "composite sketch" meant that the image was hand-drawn by an artist with pencil and paper, and a "composite image" was assembled with a computer application. So it's almost like there are two types of composite art. The image of this art is usually just the suspects shoulders and up. Rarely would they show the whole body.
