Best Answer

"El norte" (The North), "El Centro" (The Center or Central Region) and "El Sur" (The South).

There is a small Mexican phrase that summarizes it all:

"While the North works, the Center thinks and the South rests."

Northern Mexico is part of the Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts, so it has a hot, arid climate (> 100 °F). The Mexican central plateau, where Mexico City and many other cities are located, has a temperate climate, such as that of San Francisco or Los Angeles in the United States (68 - 77 °F). Southern Mexico has a more tropical climate (86 °F), but as Mexico has a rugged topography, some parts of the south have "mountain jungles" that have a humid, but temperate climate (68 °F).
