Well non-mormons think that mormons:
NONE OF THIS IS TRUE! TRUST ME I AM A MORMON!
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe that they are Christian, because they believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the only way to salvation. However, they admit that there are many differences between Mormonism and Mainstream Christianity.
The largest difference is their belief in the Trinity. Mainstream Christianity believes in the Trinity, meaning that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one being, a spirit. Mormonism does not believe this doctrine, saying that it was invented in the 3rd century AD and is not supported by the Bible. Mormons believe the in the 'Godhead', which consists of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They believe that the Father and Son are perfected, resurrected physical beings of flesh and bone, the Holy spirit is a personage of spirit, and that these three are united in purpose, but not in physicality.
The second largest difference is in their belief about scripture and prophets. Most mainstream Christian groups claim the heavens are closed. The Bible is the only source of scripture, and that prophets ended with Jesus Christ. Mormons believe that new scripture continues to be written and that God continues to call prophets to lead His people. Mormons do believe the Bible is scripture, but they also use the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, and the words of their modern prophets as scripture.
The third difference is the Mormon belief in Temple worship. While Mormons hold regular Sunday worship services in churches similar to other Christian denominations, they also participate in sacred Temple services during the week. Temple services are open only to those with special permission from church leaders. Mormons believe that Temple services allow them to provide a way to salvation for deceased ancestors who did not accept Jesus Christ while living. Temple services also allow Mormon families to be sealed eternally, so that they will be together in heaven. Mainstream Christians have nothing to compare to Mormon temple services.
A fourth difference is the Mormon belief in restoration. Protestant Christians belive that Catholiscm went astray and needed to be reformed. However, Mormons believe that reformation was not enough, and that true Christianity needed to be restored to the earth by Jesus Christ himself. Mormons believe that Jesus Christ came to Joseph Smith and restored the doctrines and authority of the original Christian church, as well as the structure of the first-century church (with 12 Apostles, etc).
Another difference is that Mormons believe in a lay clergy. Mormons do not have paid pastors, all leadership is done by volunteers and is usually temporary. They are not allowed to accept money for their services, and they are not required to have any sort of religious/seminarial education. Nearly all Mormon men are ordained to the priesthood, and the men and women of the congregation take turns giving sermons and teaching classes. In addition, the church has an active proselyting volunteer missionary force of over 50,000 men and women between the ages of 19 and 25.
The Mormon church is also very organized in structure compared to other Christian groups. In many other Christian denominations, a pastor can start up his own congregation wherever he pleases, name it what he likes, and choose his own subjects to preach about. In Mormonism, all new congregations are created by church headquarters, who then chooses volunteer staff members. All curriculum and materials are the same in every single Mormon congregation worldwide and are provided by church headquarters. Conferences are held many times each year to ensure that all Mormon congregations are united in what they teach and how they operate.

David Archuleta was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) and was baptized into the church as a child. He has always been a Mormon. Mormons are Christians, but they are not Protestant or Catholic Christians. Mormons believe that the Bible is the Word of God and that Salvation comes through Jesus Christ, just like all Christians, but they also have additional beliefs that are not shared by mainstream Christianity. These beliefs include modern prophets, scripture in addition to the Bible, and salvation for the dead, just to name a few.
