Romulus Remus was his brother as well ; see related link .
There are no Greek counterparts to the Romulus and Remus myth, as it was created in roman-greco times. Their father is sometimes depicted as the god Mars of Greek mythology for this reason, as well as some ties with Hercules.
He wasn't forced, per se. The story goes that they decided to build a city but couldn't decide where. They had a contest and Romulus won, so he got to pick. Remus didn't take it well, and began jumping over the city's walls to insult Romulus. Romulus was enraged and slew his brother for the insults.

K this is d story: 2 abandoned boys were nursed and raised by a wolf. When it was time to go on, they set out. The encountered hills and decided to raise a city, but neither of them could decide who would be king of the new city. romulus stood on one hill, and remus on another. one day, 6 vultures flew over remus' head. They decided that remus would become king of the new land. Just as remus was about to be crowned, 12 vultures flew over romulus, making him the king. Rome was named after Romulus. the jelous remus came over to the walled city of Rome. He told his brother "ha! wat kind of so called 'city' is this? anyone could easily climb over this stupid city!" Romulus replied "Well this is what my city will do to anyone who does climb over the wall!" and kills his brother.
well it started out as a bunch of nomads came to settle on these seven hills in Italy. then these twins, romulus and remus wanted to make one of the hills a city. Romulus killed his brother Remus, and became king of one of the hills, and named it Rome after himself. And thus Rome was founded.
The date of the foundation of Rome was given as 21 April 753 BC. Remus did not participate in the foundation of Rome. The brothers disagreed on whether to choose the palatine hill (Romulus' choice) or the Aventine Hill (Remus' choice).A reading of the omens favoured Romulus. Romulus killed Remus following a fit of jealousy by the latter. Romulus did not build Rome. The founding of Rome does not refer to the founding of the city. It refers to the creation the Roman state. Romulus unified the peoples who lived on the settlements of the hills which were to become the seven hills of Rome under his rule. Collectively, these settlements became Rome. Romulus was the first king of Rome as well as the founder of the city.
