In genetics, SSB stands for single-stranded DNA-binding protein.

These are proteins that bind to single-stranded areas of DNA to prevent early binding and to protect the DNA from being digested by nucleases.

What role does ssb protein play in DNA replcation?

role of ssb protein in dna replication is when the double stranded dna is brought in the single stranded form during replication the ssb bind to the single stranded dna so that the ss dna remain in the the single stranded form and when replication process is completed these protein get dissociated from the dna

What is replisome?

Assemblage of proteins (including primase, DNA polymerase, helicase, SSB proteins) that replicate the DNA. This complex involves in elongation of DNA and move along the complimentary strand.

Molecules that function to replicate DNA in the cell?

There is not really such a thing as a mirror image of DNA in nature. DNA polymerase may be the "molecule" that you are thinking of, it is an enzyme that replicates DNA. When the polymerase makes a new strand of DNA, it uses an existing strand of DNA as a template. The new strand of DNA is not in fact a mirror image of the template strand, but it is the closest thing possible. The new strand is called a complementary strand, not a mirror image.Existing DNA (template for polymerase): ATC TGA CCG GAC TAG GGTNew strand (made by polymerase): TAG ACT GGC CTG ATC CCAAlternatively, by mirror image of DNA you may be thinking of RNA, a ribonucleotide that is made by RNA polymerase. The process is similar to that described above, but the new complementary strand is made out of ribonucleic acid rather than deoxyribonucleic acid.

Where does DNA replication come from?

It is currently unknown how DNA originated. It came from RNA but how RNA formed is also unknown. The study which involves the origin of DNA and RNA through purely naturalistic means is abiogenesis. There are basic ideas about organic molecules formed, but the origin of self-replicating molecules is merely speculation at this point. The question has beguiled scientists for a very long time especially because the odds of a molecule, as complex as a DNA molecule, spontaneously forming on its own is 1 chance in 1040,000

What is a okazaki fragment?

Okazaki fragments are only used on the Lagging strand (the one going on 5' to 3' direction) never on the leading one. In fact all that the leading strand uses is the helicase to unwind DNA and DNA polimerase III to form the complementary strand allways in 3' to 5' (the leading strand) direction. The big problem of the laggind strand and the reason that Okazaki fragments exist and all other complementary DNAs (polimerace I, ligase, SSB, primace) is that it runs from 3' to 5'. Now what Okazaki fragments are, is temporary pieces of complementary DNA (iniciated by a primer)that are not joined together, but that later on before it goes back to the helix form will be joined togather by DNA ligase.
