There are many different opinions, but I feel these are the most common.

1. Glasgow- Glasgow is the population and economic hub of Scotland. When including the local areas around Glasgow, it has nearly double the population of Edinbrugh. Population including all small towns within a reasonable radius, 1 million +

2. Edinbrugh- No doubt about it coming after Glasgow. It is the capital of Scotland, and has nearly 3 times the population of the next city. Population with nearby towns, 600 000 +

3. Aberdeen- Not only the third largest city in terms of population, but also in terms of economics. It serves as a vital hub for the offshore oil industry. Population 200 000+

4. Dundee- Has a population smaller than Aberdeen, and is not as economically big as Aberdeen. It serves as an important link between south and central Scotland to the North, Highlands and Aberdeen. 160 000+

5. Livingston- From here it gets very debatable, but I chose Livingston as it has excellent transportation connections that serve the whole of the central belt but mainly the link between Edinbrugh and Glasgow. 80 000+

6. Inverness- It is vital to the entire Highlands and Northern areas, as it is the only significant population center in the region. With that it serves most of the economic and transport needs. 70 000+

7. Paisley- Serves an important part in Western Scotland. Has a sizeable population of 70 000+

8. Stirling- Although it is smaller than some of Scotlands larger towns, it is still more significant in that it has city status. It is also a transport hub serving central Scotland to Dundee. Population, 40 000+

What two cities in Europe were the centres for trading goods received from Asia?

Genoa and Venice are the two cities I would pick to answer this. In their time they were by far the most important European trading cities for Asian goods. There were other cities that were very important at other times, however, including Constantinople.
