A manatee's eyes are called "eyes."
Manatees have a nictitating membrane (like an alligator has) which protects its eyes. Manatees will close their eyes when sleeping. They hover or lay on the bottom and when they need a breath they will rise to the surface, take a breath and then settle back down to the bottom without ever waking up.
Manatees eat only sea grass, which is why they are called seacows.
Manatees often swim alone, but it is not uncommon for them to form groups, especially when seeking areas of warm water. Groups of manatees are called aggregations or herds.
