A wet clutch sits in the engine oil, which cools it and keeps it clean. As the clutch wears, the engine oil washed off the metal dust, which is then removed from the oil by the oil filter.

A dry clutch isn't cleaned or cooled by anything (other than air). If you take the clutch cover off, you'll see a bunch of metal dust in there.

Generally speaking, automobiles have dry clutches and motorcycles have wet clutches. A notable exception is Ducati's motorcycles, which have dry clutches.

Advantages of a wet clutch:

-lasts longer

-handles abuse better (e.g., can stay partially engaged without overheating)

Advantages of a dry clutch:

-doesn't contaminate the engine oil

-more efficient in terms of power transfer (since the oil in a wet clutch absorbs some of the energy that would normally go to the transmission)

How does motorcycle oil differ from car oil?

Motorcycles use either a wet clutch or a dry clutch. The wet clutch is what necessitates the biggest difference in engine oils between cars and motorcycles. The reason is that a wet clutch sits in the same engine oil as the transmission and crank case, and most of the time, the crankcase and transmission is all one unit without any partitions. Typical car engine oils have friction modifiers in them, and these modifiers are a huge range of chemical compounds designed to help the oil do its thing. That's fine for a car or even a motorcycle with a dry clutch, but friction modifiers will ruin a wet clutch. So if you have to buy motorcycle oil, make sure to read the back label to see if it says its safe for wet clutches. If you're not sure if your bike uses a wet or dry clutch, you'll be safe either way buying an oil safe for wet clutches. Always consult your manual or dealer, though before pouring anything into your engine!

Why do wet tires move slower than wet tires?

There is a mistake in the question. But, any tyre, either wet or dry will only move as fast as the engine controls it. The difference comes in the lack of a wet tyre gripping the road surface causing slippage and loss of friction, compared to the more certain grip of a dry tyre on a dry surface.
