There is no reason for the news or entertainment media in the United States to be owned and/or operated by state and the Federal government. With a media separated from government power, it aids the democratic system in the US to provide information to the public. The media in the US is primarily owned by stockholders and also by private individuals. With the current media in place, it becomes a "watch dog" of sorts over the activities of governments in the US and even their reports concerning foreign nations.

This situation allows for more public participation in policy issues and rolls right into the First Amendment guaranteeing free speech.

By all accounts, this makes for a more healthy and a more perfect democratic nation.

State-owned media can provide a platform for diverse voices and perspectives, ensuring a plurality of viewpoints. They can also serve as a tool for spreading government information and initiatives. Additionally, state-owned media can prioritize public interest over profit motives, leading to more objective reporting.

The media has been bought by 5 companies in recent years. The United States never has had government media because of the fear of loss of the freedom of the press and speech. There is public TV and radio but never a dominated government media. The loss of the number of media companies owning all the media is dangerous. In 1990 the companies that owned media ( print, movies, internet, radio, TV ) was 8 to 10, but since then it has combined into 5 very powerful companies. When this few people own that much information systems there is a problem. They can shape the political views and other things within the society. Things like investigative reporting can be stopped and politicians/ companies can manipulate, steal, and create powerful alliances that can affect the common good.
