The Romanian people is of Indo-European origin. The ancestors of Romanians were Dacians and Getae (peoples from the very large Thracian group).

The Romanian language is a Romanic (Latin) language.

One branch of our ancestry is represented by the Dacians, the other half - by the Romans. Nevertheless, the population currently living in Romania may also belong to other national minorities: Hungarian, Romany (Gypsy), Turkish, Tatar, Russian, Ukrainian, Serb, Bulgarian (the Jews and the Germans once were two major ethnic groups, but they emigrated on a large scale in the 70s and 80s).
