Answer2: There are many references to oils in The Bible indicating they had various uses in ancient times. Essential oils are extracted from floepwers, seeds, leaves and other sources. The production and use of olive-oil-based perfumes has a long history in ancient Israel. The Bible book of Exodus contains a recipe for making the sacred perfumed oil used by the priests in their services at the temple. It is a blend of cinnamon, myrrh, and other aromatic plants. (Exodus 30:22-25) There are many Biblical references to perfumed oil, used in both sacred services and everyday life.-2 Chronicles 16:14; Luke 7:37-46; 23:56. Oil was used not only for protection of the skin in the hot dry climate but also for its cosmetic benefits. (Ruth 3:3; 2 Samuel 12:20) Aromatherapy oils continue to be used in modern times to promote relaxation and to treat a wide range of conditions. Try eucalyptus, lavender, peppermint and ylang ylang to name a few. Never apply pure essential oil directly to the skin, dilute using a little carrier oil such as olive, sweet almond or grapeseed to name a few so you do not burn or irritate the skin. Invest in a few at a time and create your own spa like wellness space at home using essential oils. Mix a few drops in water to spray in the home, to relax and sleep soundly spray lavender on your pillows at night. You will not be sorry.
